Ivan Avilla, Upnotch Member, is the Director of Cyber Incident Response at GoDaddy, bringing a wealth of experience from his distinguished career as a Cyber Protection Chief Warrant Officer in the Army National Guard. His journey began when he joined the army straight out of high school in 2000, choosing a tech-related role in communications. His passion and excellence in this field led him to pursue a degree. In 2013, Ivan witnessed the emergence of cybersecurity and successfully transitioned, taking his first role within the army. Armed with numerous certifications and a year-long cyber defense training, his expertise in cybersecurity grew. By 2017, his skills caught the attention of corporations, leading to his recruitment by T-Mobile, where he spent six years. During this time, Ivan played a crucial role in responding to breaches and cyber attacks, even testifying in court that resulted in the arrest of a hacker. In the past year, Ivan achieved a significant milestone in his career by joining GoDaddy, where he currently holds the position of Director of Cyber Incident Response, marking a promotion to a director-level role.
